Structural Bolts are heavy duty cap screws with a hexagonal head designed to be used with a heavy hex nut in the connection of structural members. Structural bolts are larger and thicker than standard hex cap screws in the hex head portion. The larger hex head provides a wider bearing surface for better load distribution. Structural bolts are used in structural steel joints in heavy construction when greater yield and tensile strengths than standard hex cap screws are required.
