A socket fastener is a fastener with a hexagonal or six-lobe drive and metric threads. The hexagonal drive is more common but the six-lobe is more efficient than standard hex drives because it has more resistance to cam out and can be used with power drivers enabling quicker installation and higher torque capabiliy.
