Finished Hex Nuts

A finished hex nut is a six-sided internally threaded fastener designed to mate with externally threaded products such as bolts, studs, and screws. The hex nut ensures the externally threaded fastener stays in place. Finished hex nuts are often simply referred to as hex nuts and are the most versatile and widely used nut design. Available and ready-to-ship in a variety of sizes, finishes and coatings. Browse our selection of finished hex nuts for your building projects and industrial applications.

Grade 2:  A finished hex nut made of low carbon steel. Grade-2 nuts are for use with any low carbon bolt or screw that is not heat-treated, with a specified minimum tensile strength of 74,000 psi or less.

Grade 5:  A finished hex nut made from steel with a maximum carbon content of 0.55%. Grade-5 nuts are for use with bolts with a minimum tensile strength equal to or less than the specified proof stress of the nut.

Grade 8: A finished hex nut made from steel with the same maximum carbon content as a Grade-5 nut. Designed for use with bolts with a minimum tensile strength equal to or less than 150,000 psi.

Grade-9, EcoGuard Gray/Silver Finish (Thick Hex):  A thick hex nut made from steel with a maximum carbon content of 0.55%. Grade-9 nuts are thicker than heavy hex nuts of the same nominal size. For use with bolts with a minimum tensile strength equal to or less than 180,000 psi. Offered in a coarse and fine thread and they are U.S.A made.

Stainless:  A finished hex nut made of 18-8 stainless steel (303 & 304 series) & 316. Designed for use with stainless steel bolts and screws with a specified minimum tensile strength equal to or less than the specified proof stress of the mating nut.
