Self-tapping screws are manufactured and designed to form mating threads into a pre-drilled hole of the assembling material. Tapping screws are also commonly known as sheet metal screws due to their heavy use in sheet metal applications, although a variety of styles are stocked that are designed for use in different materials. Self-tapping screws are all fully-threaded and available in a large selections of sizes, styles and materials for Type A, Type B, and Type AB configurations. Our sheet metal screws are manufactured to ASME B18.6.3 and J933 specifications which is recognized as the American National Standard, and are case hardened to Rockwell C45 minimum (core hardness: Rockwell C28-38). Type A self-tapping screws are perfect for use in wood and thin metal applications from 0.015” to 0.05” thick and feature coarse threading. Type B self-tapping screws feature blunt tips and are greatly used for plastics and thin metal materials from 0.05” to 0.2” thick. Type AB self-tapping screws offer fine threading for better efficiency with brittle materials. Also available, High-low self-tapping screws featuring double lead threading specially manufactured with sharp high-threads for the purpose of more effective and ease of installation when driven into the substrate while the low-threads, running between the sharp threading, provide greater pressure within the material and securing the application with increased vibration & pullout resistance. Stock includes the following selection of head types: 82-degree flat head, 100-degree flat, 82-degree flat undercut, hex head, hex washer, serrated hex washer, oval head, oval with undersize head, oval undercut, wafer head, pan head, round head, round washer, truss head, and modified truss head types. Your preferences of drive styles are available in phillips, six-lobe, slotted, unslotted, square recess, and combination styles. Stainless steel sheet metal screws are available in 300 series, 18-8 SS or 400 series, 410 SS with the choice of a black oxide finish. Self-tapping screws are also stocked in aluminum and plain steel materials with the selection of clear zinc, black zinc, yellow zinc, black oxide, chrome, antique brass, nickel plating, or a green Ruspert coating to meet the specs of your application. Additional style choices include sheet metal screws with #17 points, special Pan Pozidriv or alternate dimensions, and 7/16” Across the Flats types.
