Button Head Cap Screw: A button head cap screw similar in design as a socket cap screw. The dome-shaped head is wider and has a lower profile than a socket cap screw. Used when a wider bearing surface or a smoother, more finished appearance is desired. Not recommended for critical, high-strength applications. Offered in coarse or fine thread as well as metric.
Flat Head: A flat head socket cap screw similar in design to a socket button head cap screw but with an 82-degree countersunk flat head. Used when a flush mounting, high strength screw is required. Heat treated alloy steel available. Offered in coarse or fine thread as well as metric.
Hex Wrenches: A hex wrench is a six-sided hex key bar-shaped bent at a 90-degree angle at one end. A hex bit is an unbent piece of such a bar. Designed to be inserted into a like-sized, hollow recess of a socket screw to manually tighten or loosen the fastener. Made of alloy steel and available in heat treated alloy steel. Offered in long arm, short arm, short arm metric, and tamper proof and can be ordered in sets.
Low Head Cap: A low head socket cap screw is similar to a standard alloy socket cap screw except the head height is 50% of the standard’s and the socket size is smaller. The low-head style is supplied only in plain steel. Used in applications where the limited clearance would not accommodate the head height of a standard socket cap screw. Heat treated alloy steel and made in U.S.A. Offered in coarse and fine thread.
Pipe Plugs, Dry Seal: A dry seal plug is on having a tapered thread extending its entire length and designed to have its threads mesh tightly with those of a taper-threaded hole. The thread truncation is closely controlled at root and crest to assure metal to metal contact, preventing spiral leakage and forming a positive seal without the use of sealing compounds. Offered in high grade alloy steel in black finish and brass.
Pipe Plugs, Flush Seating: A flush type plug is one having a tapered thread extending its entire length and designed to provide a flush condition with a standard tapped hole. A high-pressure seal is achieved through the difference in taper, with dimensions precalculated to provide a higher sealing load near the large end of the plug and the threads near the top of the tapped hole. Available in high grade alloy in a black finish and brass.
Socket Set Screws: A set screw, also known as a blind screw or grub screw, is a type of screw generally used to secure an object within or against another object, usually without using a nut. Socket set screws come in a variety of styles like cup point, half-dog point, oval point, flat point, and cone point and available in coarse or fine thread, and in alloy steel with a black finish.
Socket Cap Screw: An externally threaded fastener with unified threads, a cylindrical head with a flat chamfered top surface, knurled cylindrical sides and hexagonal recess, made from alloy steel. Ideal for precision assembly work with close tolerances and applications needing a well tooled appearance. Available in a socket shoulder and offered in stainless alloys 302, 303, 304, 305, 384, XM1 or XM7 an alloy steel. Coarse and fine threads in stock with metric available as well, meeting the ISO 4762 dimensions.
Tools: Socket Screw Guide lists dimensions for most common products, x-trac replacement sleeves made of hardened steel, and x-trac replacement broaches available to order.
Cap Screw, Imported: An externally threaded fastener with unified threads, a cylindrical head with a flat chamfered top surface, knurled cylindrical sides and hexagonal recess, made from alloy steel that is not domestically manufactured.
Military-Spec: Socket Cap screws that meet military specifications MS16997 Cadmium Yellow, NAS 1351 / MS16996 Fine 300-Series SS, NAS 1351 Fine A286 SS, NAS 1352 Coarse 300-Series SS, NAS 1352 / MS16995 Coarse A286 SS
Pipe Plugs: Pipe plugs are designed to insert into the end of tubing to dead-end the flow. Offered in zinc alloy and in a slotted and Phillips drive.
Set Screw, Imported: A set screw, also known as a blind screw or grub screw, is a type of screw generally used to secure an object within or against another object, usually without using a nut. These socket set screws are imported and come in a variety of styles like cup point (metric & standard), metric knurled cup point, half-dog point, oval point, flat point, and cone point and available in coarse or fine thread, and in plain steel, plain alloy steel, and alloy steel with a black finish.
Shoulder Screw, Imported: A hex socket head screw with an enlarged, unthreaded, cylindrical shoulder under the head, the diameter of which serves as the basis for the derivation of the nominal size. Also referred to as “stripper bolts”. Available in 18-8 stainless steel (303 & 304 series).
Six-Lobe Socket: A button head cap screw that is fully threaded to the head. The dome-shaped button head is wider and has a lower profile than a socket cap screw and has a six-lobed recess. Carried in metric in A2 stainless steel and steel zinc.
Flat Head: A flat head socket cap screw similar in design to a socket button head cap screw but with an 82-degree countersunk flat head. Used when a flush mounting, high strength screw is required. Heat treated alloy steel available. Offered in coarse or fine thread as well as metric.
