Hex Nuts
A nylon hex nut is a six sided internally threaded fastener which has chamfered corners on one side only, and a washer face on the opposite side. Designed for use with externally threaded nylon fasteners, such as a nylon machine screw or a nylon bolt. The nylon nut and bolt or screw are kept together and secured by the threads. Nylon’s advantages include resistance to greases and oils, a low coefficient of friction, and the ability to maintain its strength when exposed to heat. Made of nylon 6/6 with a Rockwell hardness of M80. Has tensile strength of 12,000 psi and shear strength of 9,500 psi. Thermal properties of nylon have a melting point of 500 degrees Fahrenheit and a continuous use temperature of 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Available and ready-to-ship in a variety of sizes.
